NIH to Receive Over $1.1 Billion in Royalty Payments from BioNTech & Pfizer for the COVID Vaccine

“BioNTech has entered into two separate settlement agreements with the U.S. National Institutes of Health and the University of Pennsylvania over the payment of royalties related to its COVID-19 vaccine, the company said in filings.”

Hmm. I wonder if such arrangements between an agency that approves medical products and the company that produces them creates any perverse incentives…
