My medical (not health) insurance plan allows me to walk in to any drugstore, urgent care, or local health department and get flu or V jab. Walk in, no appointment, no co pay. However, to get a blood draw for routine testing requires an appointment, one week out, and some crazy algorithm for calculating my co pay. The algorithm is so proprietary and convoluted and mysterious that the lab doesn’t even know what my bill is — the insurance company has to calculate the charges and then someone, I have no idea who, bills me.
Clapton and Van Morrison, at least there are some heroes and icons who remain grounded. BTW, at the close of the article, is that Clapton’s recent pic documenting his fateful jab… the bra strap and cami? What were the editors thinking? It was probably a zombie who selected and inserted that stock photo.
