Forest fire smoke is very unpleasant and my opinion is that there would be a lot less of it if the forests were owned by timber companies. But the way we are going in the Sierras they are going to run out of trees to burn so maybe that is what will solve the problem in the western U.S.
The awful smoke in the northeastern U.S. should wake a few people up and bring about some better forest management. That might just be wishful thinking on my part.
